Aarogyasri Services to Continue in Telangana as Govt Clears Dues

Hyderabad: Aarogyasri services in Telangana will resume without disruption as the state government has agreed to clear pending dues owed to network hospitals and double the monthly budget allocation from ₹50 crore to ₹100 crore. The decision comes after several hospitals had recently halted non-emergency Aarogyasri services, citing unresolved issues spanning over a decade.

Health Minister Damodar Raja Narasimha, Health Secretary Christina Chongthu, and representatives from the Telangana Aarogyasri Network Hospitals Association (TANHA), including its president Dr. V. Rakesh, held a meeting with hospital managements on Monday to address these concerns.

During the discussions, TANHA representatives urged the government to revise the empanelment Memorandum of Understanding (MoU), update Aarogyasri package rates, and expedite the clearance of longstanding dues.

Minister Narasimha emphasized that healthcare and education for the underprivileged remain the government’s top priorities. "Our government has gone beyond political considerations to allocate funds for these critical sectors. While ₹500 crore was previously spent annually on Aarogyasri, we have already disbursed ₹1,137 crore in the past year alone, clearing past arrears. We will ensure regular payments, and all pending dues will be cleared within six months," he assured.

The minister also announced the formation of a committee to oversee revisions to the empanelment MoU and address other demands from hospitals. TANHA members expressed satisfaction with the government’s assurances.

"We are thankful to the Health Minister for his commitment to clearing our dues within the next four to five months and ensuring regular payments. The formation of a committee, including Aarogyasri’s CEO and representatives from our association, to revise packages is a welcome move. The revised rates will address the needs of small and medium-sized hospitals. Following these assurances, we have decided to restore Aarogyasri services across the state," said Dr. V. Rakesh.
