Andhra Pradesh: Birth, Death Certificates Through WhatsApp Soon

Vijayawada: The Andhra Pradesh government will soon launch WhatsApp Governance Services to issue birth and death certificates to people of the state.

Chief Secretary K. Vijayanand held a review meeting with regard to the process of issuing birth and death certificates through WhatsApp at the Real Time Governance Society office in Secretariat here on Monday.

Speaking on the occasion, he said that as Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu wanted to make government services more accessible and convenient to the citizens by introducing the WhatsApp governance, he directed the RTGS and the concerned departments to expedite the process to implement it in the state. He underscored the need to ensure that the service is provided to the people seamlessly at the field level. He asked for implementing it as a pilot project at Tenali.

The Chief Secretary instructed the officials from panchayat raj, health and municipal administration to extend all requisite support to the RTGS officials to implement the service successfully.

Real Time Governance department principal secretary S. Suresh Kumar stated that all necessary preparations for WhatsApp Governance were made and assured that they were taking measures to avoid any flaw in the process of issuing birth and death certificates.

RTGS chief executive officer K. Dinesh Kumar stated that they would assess the technical process of issuing birth and death certificates through WhatsApp in all the panchayats and municipalities in Tenali area shortly and added that they had developed a portal under Andhra Pradesh Civil Registration System (AP CRS) to integrate all birth and death registration data and added that once a certificate was generated, a WhatsApp message would be sent to the applicant so that the applicant could download the certificate directly through WhatsApp.

Health special chief secretary M.T. Krishna Babu, municipal administration secretary K. Kannababu, director of women and child welfare A. Surya Kumari, director of panchayat raj Krishna Teja and director of village secretariat department Shiva Prasad were present in the meeting.
