Vijayawada: A copper plate grant from the Early Pallava Dynasty has been discovered, shedding light on a significant historical artefact.

According to the Archaeological Survey of India (ASI), the copper plate was issued by Early Pallava king Siva Simhavarma, son of Nandivarma and grandson of Skandavarma of the Bharadwaja gotra. Written in Sanskrit with Early Telugu-Kannada characters, it dates back to the 5th–6th century CE.

The copper plate has been in the custody of the family of Pandit Shiva Swamy Acharya from Dibburru village in Karnataka's Chikkaballapura district for five generations. It came to light recently due to ASI’s efforts.
ASI Director (Epigraphy) K. Munirathnam Reddy remarked, “Our awareness campaigns on preserving inscriptions led to this discovery. We urge the public to report new findings to the ASI Mysore office to aid in deciphering and preserving these invaluable records.”
