Vijayawada: A new building and sports complex were inaugurated at the District Council High School at Nandivellugu village on Saturday. The structure was constructed at an estimated cost of rupees two crore. Union minister of state for communications, Dr. Pemmasani Chandrashekhar, along with former minister Alapati Rajendra Prasad inaugurated the new school building.
Speaking on the occasion, the Union minister emphasized the importance of education in transforming the lives of individuals, especially those coming from the underprivileged section of society. The Union minister also encouraged NRIs to engage themselves more for the community service.
Drawing a quote from the veteran actor and politician Nandamuri Taraka Rama Rao also popularly known as NTR, the minister remarked, “Mother and motherland are greater than heaven.” Hence, giving importance to the community and local pride, Dr. Pemmasani urged everybody to recall the contributions of NTR on the occasion of his death anniversary.
“Education introduces poor to the world. Regardless of fate, a school helps in moulding students into knowledgeable and progressive individual,” he said. The Union minister also highlighted the role of a teacher in transforming students into intellectuals.
Former minister Alapati Rajendra Prasad said that the new building and sports facility will be helpful in overall personality development of the students as well as fostering community development in the region.
Earlier, the teachers, employees and students of the school accorded a warm welcome to the dignitaries.
