Kurnool:Telugu Desam BC Sadhikara Samiti state convener Y. Nageswara Rao Yadav has reiterated his call for appointing minister Nara Lokesh as deputy chief minister, despite the party’s directive to avoid such demands as a decision on such issues will be decided after discussions with alliance partners.
Addressing the media at the Telugu Desam office in Kurnool on Monday, Yadav praised Lokesh’s extensive efforts to address the issues of people, citing his statewide padayatra from Kuppam to Srikakulam. He commended Lokesh for engaging with citizens at all levels, organising public meetings and tackling challenges stemming from the previous government’s rule.
Yadav emphasised that the state’s development relies on Lokesh’s leadership and policies, particularly those focused on uplifting marginalised communities, including the BCs. He highlighted Lokesh’s initiatives, such as the Special Protection Act for BCs and a dedicated special package for their welfare, underscoring his commitment to social justice.
He also noted Lokesh’s promise to restore local body election reservations to 34 per cent, which had been reduced to 24 per cent by the previous regime. Calling Lokesh a leader committed to the welfare of all communities, he expressed confidence in his vision to ensure justice and progress for both the Telugu Desam workers and the people of Andhra Pradesh.
