CHENNAI:
AMMK
leader TTV Dhinakaran accused the Tamil Nadu govt of being anti-labour and withholding
pension benefits
of retired
transport workers
.
In a statement, Dhinakaran alleged that the govt hasn't paid pensions, including dearness allowance, to more than one lakh retired employees for nine years and criticised the govt for contesting a court order mandating the allowance's payment.
“The govt’s inaction demonstrates administrative incompetence, especially given the chief minister's claim of having compassion but insufficient funds,” he said.
The AMMK leader expressed concern over the distress caused to transport workers by the loss of several hundred colleagues without receiving pension benefits.
