Dr. Suman Jain conducts Training on HRUS for Early Leprosy Detection at Nepal Leprosy Trust

Dr. Suman Jain, Chief Research Medical Officer at the Thalassemia & Sickle Cell Society, Hyderabad along with Dr. Sujai Suneetha recently visited the Nepal Leprosy Trust in Lalgadh, Nepal as special resource faculty. A unique four-day training session was conducted, where valuable insights were provided by the doctors team and hands-on instruction to the medical staff on the use of High-Resolution Ultrasound (HRUS) for the early detection of leprosy was given.

The training was designed to enhance the diagnostic capabilities of the Nepal Leprosy Trust staff, empowering them to identify leprosy at its earliest stages, which is crucial for better patient outcomes. The trainees included Dr. Sofia, Mr. Roshan Lal, and Mr. Shyam, who participated in a comprehensive curriculum covering the latest advancements in nerve ultrasound techniques for leprosy diagnosis.

Commenting on the training, Dr. Suman Jain, CMRO, TSCS expressed, “It is a privilege to be part of this initiative, which will significantly strengthen the diagnostic capacity of the Nepal Leprosy Trust. By equipping local medical professionals with the skills to detect leprosy early through HRUS, we can ensure better care and improved quality of life for affected individuals.”
