Flamingo Festival 2025 Kicks Off in Sullurupeta

Anantapur: The Flamingo Festival 2025 began on January 18 in Sullurupeta, marking its return after a five-year hiatus. Tourism Minister Kandula Durgesh inaugurated the three-day event, which runs until January 20, in the newly formed Tirupati district. Local MLA Nelawala Vijaya Shri, Collector Dr. S. Venkateshwar, and other officials attended the opening ceremony.

The festivities included a rally from Sullurpet Cross Circle to the Junior College, followed by the opening of exhibition stalls. Minister Durgesh emphasised the importance of promoting the Pulicat Lake and its surrounding wildlife, highlighting the efforts to support local fishermen and develop the region into a major tourist destination. Activities such as sports and cultural programmes for children are planned throughout the event.
