Hanamkonda: Couple held for stealing gold from RTC passengers

Warangal: Police arrested a couple for stealing gold ornaments from passengers travelling in RTC buses and recovered 100 grams of gold worth ₹8.5 lakh from their possession. The arrests were made on Monday at Tailor Street in Hanamkonda.

According to ACP K. Devander Reddy, the accused were identified as Chella Swapna (27) and Madduri Satyanarayana (38), natives of Kataram village in Mulugu district, currently residing in Kumarpally, Hanamkonda. Swapna, who is physically disabled, and Satyanarayana allegedly conspired to rob passengers, particularly targeting elderly people and women at bus stands. The stolen gold ornaments were stored in their house in Kumarpally.

After receiving multiple complaints, Central Zone DCP Shaik Saleema directed the formation of a special police team to investigate. Using advanced technology, the team tracked and caught the couple when they tried to sell the stolen ornaments.

ACP Reddy commended the efforts of the team, including inspector Satish, SI Ashok Kumar, Crime SI Kishore, and constables Salman Pasha, Narayana, Rahoof, Mahesh, Ashok, Veeranna, and Bhaskar, for their efforts in solving the case.
