Hyderabad: JNTU on Sunday announced that fee reimbursement funds will be released by March 8 to affiliated colleges. This assurance came during an interaction with officials of affiliated engineering, pharmacy, and MBA colleges.
At the meeting, JNTU-H incharge Vice Chancellor Prof. V. Balakista Reddy emphasised the pressing need to revise undergraduate syllabi, particularly for non-engineering courses, which have not been updated in over a decade. He pointed out that while engineering courses undergo regular updates as per AICTE guidelines, other courses lag behind.
The meeting, attended by rector Dr K. Vijayakumar Reddy and registrar Dr. K. Venkateswara Rao, also addressed the issue of teacher shortages. Prof. Reddy said that steps are being taken to improve faculty recruitment. The university committed to monitor the use of general service and application fees to alleviate students’ financial burdens. Stressing the importance of adherence to regulatory bodies such as PCI, AICTE, and UGC, the university urged institutions to implement guidelines promptly.
In his address, Dr. K. Vijayakumar Reddy spoke about the university’s dual role in supervising and supporting affiliated institutions, stressing the importance of balancing financial realities with maintaining high educational standards.
Dr S. Tara Kalyani, Director of Non-Autonomous Colleges, concluded the meeting by announcing the preparation of a detailed document that will outline actionable solutions to the issues discussed, including the affiliation process for the upcoming academic year.
