Nalgonda: Roads and buildings minister Komatireddy Venkat Reddy announced a ₹900 crore investment to improve irrigation, road infrastructure, and welfare schemes in the district. The funds will be used for lining the AMRP-SLBC canal and its distributor canals, aiming to provide irrigation to four lakh acres upon completion.

At the launch of a road expansion project from Kanagal to Thimmapuram, Reddy criticised the previous BRS government for neglecting irrigation projects and canal repairs, alleging corruption and attributing ₹7 lakh crore in state debt to such practices. He assured that the SLBC tunnel would be completed in 26 months, and the Baswapur reservoir in Bhongir district within a month.

Addressing the fluorosis issue, Reddy pledged permanent solutions to fluoride contamination and recalled Congress’ efforts in supplying Krishna water to affected areas before 2014.

Reddy also announced social welfare initiatives, including the launch of Rythu Bharosa, Indira Atmeeya Bharosa, Indiramma houses, and a new ration card drive starting January 26. Over 40 lakh ration cards will be distributed to eligible families, supplementing the current system.

“The government is committed to improving infrastructure and quality of life for all citizens,” Reddy stated, highlighting efforts to address irrigation, connectivity, and social welfare comprehensively.
