Hyderabad: A 55-year-old farmer died after his bike skid on the Kandukur road in Rangareddy district on Saturday night. The farmer, V. Venkataiah, was travelling alone when the incident occurred. He is said to have hit a small boulder on the road, suffering fatal head injuries.
His body was sent for post-mortem examination. A case was registered and further investigation is underway.
DCM lorry with 30 passengers has brake failure
Hyderabad: A mini-lorry carrying 30 people from Yadagirigutta to LB Nagar suffered brake failure and rammed into a tree in Ghatkesar, late on Sunday afternoon, leaving five persons, including a pedestrian, with minor injuries.
Driver Chary reportedly panicked on seeing people gather at the spot and fled. The owner of the vehicle was identified as Mallesh.
“According to the passengers, the driver swerved the vehicle and rammed into a tree to avert a major accident after he realised that there was a brake failure,” investigating officer Shekhar said.
7.8 kg of ganja seized
Hyderabad: Hyderabad Police seized 7.8 kg of ganja and 14 gm of hashish in a series of drug raids across the city recently.
Malkajgiri excise superintendent K. Naveen said a team led by enforcement circle inspector Bharat Bhushan and sub-inspector Srinivas Reddy apprehended a man named Harikrishna in Cherlapalli along with one Vaidyanath Biswal from Odisha. The drugs seized was handed over to Ghatkesar Police.
Near Arts College Railway Station in Secunderabad, police seized 1.3 kg of ganja and a bike. The drugs were allegedly being moved to the Osmania University area.
In another bust, Medchal Police apprehended an individual from Odisha who was selling ganja under its limits. Half kilo ganja was recovered from his possession.
In Madhapur, enforcement police seized 14 gm of hashish. The drug was meant to be sold to IT employees, engineering students, and residents of Madhapur, Gachibowli, and Kondapur, revealed excise superintendent Krishna Priya.
