Hyderabad: Governor Jishnu Dev Varma said the media was the main pillar of Indian democracy as it acted as a bridge between the people and administration by disseminating information.
Governor Varma commended the role played by journalists and noted that they had been adapting to changing trends due to the advent of technology. He said that everyone in society was indebted to the media for disseminating information.
He was speaking after launching the diary of the Journalists Association of Telangana (JAT) at Raj Bhavan on Monday.
The Governor also congratulated the journalists working in the digital media by stating that they have been adapting the latest technology in tune with the changing demands to compete with print and electronic media. He averred that reporters are constantly working in the service of society without any profit motive.
