Nizamabad:A tense atmosphere prevailed during the Nizamabad Municipal Council meeting on Saturday as BJP, MIM, and Congress corporators staged protests over various issues. Corporators sat on the floor and raised slogans against municipal authorities, disrupting the session.
The meeting, chaired by Mayor Dandu Neethu Kiran of the BRS, saw heated exchanges. MIM corporators opposed the relocation of vegetable vendors to the closed DS market, arguing it negatively impacts both vendors and customers. Congress corporators also demanded that vendors be allowed to continue their businesses at existing locations. Congress corporator Gadugu Rohit escalated the tension by attempting to break the doors of the mayor’s chamber.
Meanwhile, BJP corporators, led by party floor leader Sravanthi, demanded the inclusion of city development works in the meeting agenda.
Addressing the council, Mayor Neethu Kiran highlighted the developmental achievements of the municipal corporation over the past five years. She expressed gratitude to elected representatives, officials, and the public for their support in civic initiatives. Municipal commissioner Dilip Kumar and other officials were also present.
The meeting concluded amidst continued protests, reflecting the growing friction among political factions over municipal issues.
