Police Nab Armed Robbers in Mangaluru’s Rs 4 Cr Bank Heist

Mangaluru: In a significant breakthrough, Mangaluru City Police have arrested three individuals involved in an armed robbery at the Kotekar Vyavasaya Seva Sahakari Sangha (N) branch in Talapady near Mangaluru.

The robbery, which occurred on the afternoon of January 17, saw the culprits, masked and armed, looting cash and gold jewelry worth approximately Rs 4 crores.

City Police Commissioner Anupam Agarwal, in a press statement, confirmed that the arrested individuals have been identified as Murugandi Thevar (36), from Ammankovil, Thiruvanalli Tq; Yosuva Rajendran (35), from Dombivli West, Mumbai; and Kannan Mani (36), from Chembur, Mumbai.

Following the incident, several teams were formed to investigate the case. Through effective field operations, Mangaluru City Police successfully apprehended the accused from Padmaneri village, Tamil Nadu.

During the operation, the police recovered the vehicle used in the crime, two pistols with three live rounds, machetes, and a portion of the stolen cash and gold. The exact value of the recovered items will be determined after a mahazar with the local police.

“While these three are believed to be the primary accused, efforts are underway to apprehend other suspects involved in the robbery. The investigation continues,” added Agarwal.
