Dharwad: The Swamitva Yojana will transform rural land ownership by providing accurate property records, said Labor Minister and Dharwad District-in Santosh Lad.

Speaking at the launch of the drone survey under the scheme in Madakihonnalli village of Kalghatgi taluk, Lad emphasized the importance of the initiative in benefiting rural residents.

“Many villagers lack proper property measurements despite living in the same location for years. This has led to disputes and financial losses. The Swamitva Yojana will identify properties accurately and provide ownership records, bringing stability and transparency,” he said.

The program, implemented in all 375 villages of Dharwad district, involves drone-based surveys to map and document rural properties. A joint effort by the Central and State governments, the initiative aims to modernize property documentation and enable residents to use their properties for financial purposes, such as obtaining loans.

Land Records Deputy Director Mohan Shivannavar said that property owners would have a 30-day window to raise objections before records are finalized. He urged villagers and local representatives to cooperate to ensure the program's success. The advanced technology used for aerial and rover surveys will also support local governance and planning initiatives.
